J is doing very well in school. This week, he spelled “shark”. I am guessing he figured it from the many times we have read to him about sharks. He was very proud and showed all of us. He also loves to play. This week he played a cat a lot. He meows and roars, but rarely purrs.
E is a magical right now, he loves talking with me! He told me to run in the grass, because “the wet feels good on your feet”. He also showed me his “egg” he found (a small plastic looking ball). He tells me how much he loves Daddy, brother and sister. We talk about him being such a big boy.
Joy thinks she is 20. She wants to eat with a spoon or fork by herself. She “colors”, pulls out all the crayons. She is also getting opinionated about how I dress her. She wants her shoes more than any other item of clothing.

This past week was rough. J kept on telling me he was sick after E got to watch a tv show so I could do school with J. After 30 minutes, J fell sick with the stomach bug and was stationed in front of the tablet with a barf bucket. Needless to say, not much school got done except drawing at co-0p. Joe and I finally got to see the boys play in their second soccer game. It was miserable for Josias as it rained the entire game and was really cold. He stood most of the game with his hands in his pockets.
E spent Tuesday recovering from Mommy, Dadda and Joy being gone, Wednesday sick, Thursday recovering, Friday birthday celebration, Saturday soccer and Sunday more birthday celebration. He took us being gone hard and needed lots of cuddle time and hugs when we got back. On Wednesday, at the chiropractor, he unexpected lost all of his breakfast with only half of it making it in a trash can. Outside of being unable to keep food/water down he played hard between sickness bouts. At co-op, he wouldn’t let me help him draw until his drawing was so far gone that I couldn’t help him at all. I have a love/hate relationship with his independence. It is nice he doesn’t cling to me, but would be good if he sometimes would except help. He is a go getter in soccer. He played hard even though it was cold and raining. The good part with soccer is he gets out tons of energy, the hard part for me to is to calculate how much food he eats after. This week he pounded 2 bean burritos plus part of mine!
Joy, what a week, after getting home from winter camp you spent your first night throwing up and cuddling with Dadda in between. Joy recovered to only get pink eye a few days later. At the doctor office, we found out on top of pink eye, she had strep on her butt. Joy quickly decided she didn’t like oral antibiotics or eye drops. We have a fun 10 plus days to last. Outside of being sick, you have been stealing your brothers toys and exploring the house.

We are so proud of our big boy, he finished his AWANA book this week. He loves Sparks and is excited to hide God’s Word in his heart. He is such a good big brother, he pushed both E and Joy around in the stroller this week. Josias also enjoyed his first soccer game this week. E enjoyed his first soccer practice and game this week. In true Heller fashion, he dominated in his age group, giving 200 percent.
Joy, your brothers were supposed to watch you and somehow in the 5 seconds it took me to set down the groceries, you raced across the street. Needless to say, it will be a while before I let you go out front again. You want to be a big kid, drink out our glasses, feed yourself, walk, run, etc. Joe and I took you to Winter Camp and you did well, except for sleeping. You were happy to wake up in the middle of the night and walk around the room talking happily. I hope this is a very short faze.

A new year, old resolutions. Here I am again wanting to record every week the little people in my life. We found ourselves at the “big” park on New Years day. Joe watching the kids and me taking pictures and watching him. It marked 9 years from when he asked me out the third time. Life is magical in the monotony and I can’t imagine a better person to be spending my time with. J is getting more adventurous and is not quite as cautious. He love the tall slide and kept asking me to take his picture as he came down. This week was hard to get back into routines. We were unintentionally off Math and English for almost 6 weeks due to sickness, holidays, family in town, etc. His first lesson back, he got tired and just enviously watched E playing. On Sunday, he told us the whole story of Paul and Barnabas healing a lame man. It is exciting to watch him enjoy learning the Bible.
E, decided he wanted to ride a pedal bike and it took Joe and him a very long time to get to the park. He is full of life and sometimes that can come out in emotional outbreaks, where we can’t understand him. He loves his sister dearly and will go to her anytime she is crying and try to cheer her up. He loves people so much that sometime he wakes Josias up in the morning just to have his company.
Joy, you are so precious. You love being held, eating Babybel cheese, cuddling, getting dressed and putting on shoes. You love shoes and sometimes wear them at night over your footed sleeper! You have a habit lately of waking up around 5, nursing and then cooing at me and walking out of your room to my room. You then cuddle with daddy and I before daddy returns you to your room.

This Christmas was magical with Josias. He loved doing advent. He counted down the days to Christmas and gave lots of gifts (cards) to all. He also watched way to much Rudolph and Mickey Mouse Christmas shows. He told me that he believes in Santa Clause, because “he brings me toys” (said on 12/19). Josias however also loved singing carols and playing nativity.
One of the magical moments was at my parents church. The pastor reads the Christmas story and invites up children that are the different people in the story. Josias was an angel and when the pastor asked where the angels were, Josias jumped up and said “Here I am!” E also enjoyed getting in the Christmas spirit by looking at Christmas lights. He spent the Wednesday and Thursday before though very sick. Thankfully, he cleared up ready to celebrate by Friday.
It was wonderful dressing a girl for Christmas. I crocheted a headband for her the night before Christmas Eve and finished it on the way to church. She gave me a full night of sleep, sleeping until 7am on Christmas morning!

Josias discovered snakes this week. He anticipated preschool with Oma which was about snakes and he made one with Oma. The day after preschool, he was telling me all about snakes, they don’t eat humans, some make noise, they don’t talk, some climb trees. He also learned how to buckle himself in the car! The best moment was seeing him want to be a gentleman just like his daddy. I was walking ahead of the boys with Joy in her car seat to quickly enter the restaurant. I heard some talking behind me and turned to see Josias running towards me with his face crestfallen. I heard Joe say something about the door and I let it quickly close to wait for my big boy to open the door for Joy and I. I walked across the threshold with a boy beaming with pride that he had opened the door for his mommy and sister.
E is fascinated with bridges. As I was driving to church, he kept asking to go over Daddy’s bridge. Then he wanted to go over Papa’s bridge. E thinks almost all the bridges in town are designed by either his Daddy or Papa. Unfortunately for him Daddy has only worked on one bridge in Arizona and it is a long drive for him, but why correct. E is also very protective of Joy. He is worried about her and makes sure she has her pacifier, blanket, toys, etc.
Seeing how protective E is of his sister, Daddy re-wrote the song below:
Sister
Sister
There was never a more loved sister
Never had to have a chaperone “No, sir”
Bros are there to keep their eyes on her
Lord help the mister
Who tries to date my little sister
And Lord help my sister
Who tries sneak out with a man
Joy is discovering so much. She is enjoying tummy time right now and even sort of rolled over onto her back. She got an amber necklace to help with what we think is teething. She is mostly joyful and loves to watch her brothers.

Josias came up with something new, “jumping for Joy”. I loved watching him jump around and in front of Joy. She giggled so much that E joined in on the fun. My bundle of emotion loved his Russian Cossack hat from Oma. Daddy showed him how to do one of the trademark portions of the dance. E did pretty good. He loves to dance and has the Heller’s moves and skills.
Joy was dedicated at church on Sunday. She was adorable looking at everyone in the church and in my opinion the cutest. Nana & Papa, Oma & Opa, Uncle Keith, Aunt B, Miller kids, and big brothers were in the service. It was wonderful to have so much love and support from family as well as friends. I pray Joy lives up to her name and is joyful in the Lord and to others.
