Snow Day

Last minute, we decided to try and find snow. Excitedly, we set out for Flagstaff. We drove through and saw almost no snow, ack!!! We made it all the way to Snowbowl before seeing snow. There wasn’t much, but we did get to sled, build a snowman, eat snow and play.

Joy didn’t really care for eating the snow. The boys had fun hunting for “good, white” snow.

Until next year, bye, bye snow…

Oma school

The boys love Oma school, but this past one was one of their favorites (it might have to do with the pop guns Oma brought). Oma read them a book and then helped them dress up like cowboys and they went around outside rounding up their cows, building a “camp fire” and “eating grub”. They even had a few fellow travelers join in.

This was a very full week. J got to see his first non family babysitter who moved last year to Kansas. He was really excited and had fun talking with her. He had a very interactive Oma school, they presented on France at coop and we went to see snow in Flagstaff. Josias dressed up as a French boy, his beret made the outfit. He had a lot of fun and learned what escargot is! He was bummed when E in his zeal stole J’s thunder with announcing French people eat snails!

E also dressed up for coop, he went more for the casual French look. His favorite part of the study was making a French flag. He loved the flag so much that he waved it around the house, has taken it for lots of car trips and won’t share with Joy. This is unusual since E usually spoils his “baby”.

This pictures describes Joy, always wanting to explore, go places, climb, etc. She wants outside constantly, she gets into the stroller in the garage and climbed into a baby bouncer at coop.

Every ear we do a family trip to the lake to feed the ducks. It is usually in January, but this year we didn’t make it until March.

J is really developing a relationship and love for Jesus. He asks many times to stay in “big” church for worship. He also loves memorizing scripture. This past week, he told me he had a dream and that a voice, God, told him he was going to heaven.

E has always been my picky eater, but this week at dinner it was strange. He would only eat the kale, radicchio & brussel sprout salad. He refused the fried chicken and didn’t really eat bread! He told us how strong he was going to get by eating salad!

Joy just wants to be a big kid! She insisted that daddy let her ride each of her brothers bikes, while wearing E’s helmet. I don’t want her to grow up, but she is insisting it happen fast.

E is crazy as always. He talked his daddy into helping him hang upside down at the park. .

Joy turned 20 months. She only wanted her water bottle and when it was taken away cried for a good long time until daddy distracted her with pointing and throwing her up in the air.

It was a great weekend for J, on his last soccer game of the season, he scored a goal! He let out a great roar/scream upon scoring. The first thing J asked me was when did he get his big ice cream. Joe had promised the boys “big” ice cream if they scored a goal. That night after dinner Joe treated them to an ice cream cone and play time at “Donald land” (McDonald’s).

E celebrated his final week of soccer with dinner at Peter Piper Pizza with his team, Joe and big brother. He had a huge fan from his team who followed him around and E loved the attention. In his last soccer game, E assisted his teammates in scoring a goal. If you asked him, he said he scored at least one goal.

Joy was the opposite of her oldest brother. She woke up with a 102 temperature on Thursday morning and continued with a fever until Saturday. It was really hard to watch her suffer. She only wanted to be held and suck on her pacifier. This caused a halt to school and most activities for everyone else. I didn’t get much done and was constantly tired. When Joe got home, he took turns with me holding her. Sunday morning, Joy played with her brothers puzzles, listened to 2 sermons with me and returned books to the library. She was overjoyed when she woke up from her nap and discovered her brothers back home!

For co-0p, we had a field day. It was really fun with a 25-yard dash, long jump, hammer throw, football throw, an animal relay race, bow & arrow shooting and finished with a potato sack race. J was really into the throwing and shooting. Afterwards, he kept throwing the frisbee, so Joe took him out later on in the week to practice/play more.

E demonstrated crazy dance skills at our youth group childcare. He danced up a storm to any music the child care worker played. He inherited his Daddy’s mad dancing skills. E had a rough soccer game this week. He got shoved down and then a little bit later a kid tried to strangle E by pulling on his shirt and not letting go, even after E lost the ball and the ref. and our coach told the kid to stop. My mommy heart had a hard time and Joe remained calm through the whole situation. I am so thankful for a great husband that keeps me from over reacting. Needless to say, E didn’t really want to play soccer the rest of the game.

Joy is really into shoes, being a big kid and copying big brothers. This week I caught her trying on my shoes, which reminded me of when J was her age and loved walking around in my shoes. She is a true Lewis lady and when I was looking at shoes for her on my phone, cradled it in her arms and pointed to the shoes. She also regularly goes to her shoe drawer before I even get her dressed for the day. She is opinionated, so I just giver her options on Mommy approved shoes for that day. She wants to grow up and feed herself. This can be very messy at times, but thankfully she lets me clean her up (more like demands to have me keep her clean!). While we were at the greenbelt on Sunday, Joy stole E’s soccer ball, his bike helmet, and attempted to ride E’s balance bike. She actually got on the bike helmet and Daddy obliged her with a short ride on the balance bike. This girl is growing up to fast.

Josias finished his Logic of English book, Foundations A. To celebrate we had and ABC party and invited Nana & Papa and Oma & Opa. The guys played phonetic memory game. The Nana, Oma, Josias, and E played ABC memory game. Josias did well in both games. Joe made custom pizzas with each persons initials. We asked the grandparents to each bring something that started with their names. Nana & Papa gave him popcorn, Nutterbutters, and an ABC memory game. Oma & Opa brought orange candies, laser guns (for Lewis), and Finding Winnie. We got him the Bob books. It was a wonderful week for our big boy! 7of52 E

A sweet moment from this week was when I asked the boys what they wanted to watch and E said “You pick Josias and then I will say yes.” I love that he is agreeable sometimes, especially when we have days where he is glued to my leg and then once Joe is home to him. He is learning to share and that is wonderful.

Joy learned to hide. aka bury her head into the floor/stairs/wall. Then when she wanted to be found, up popped her head!

J had a fun week of being a knight, robot, playing house in a cardboard box and finishing it out with football player. I love watching his imagination grow as he was slaying a scary beast and protecting the house! Joe had cut a cardboard box with arm holes and face hole. Josias added an cardboard empty wrapping paper role to the costume.  He also learned the next day the importance of not leaving a cardboard box in the grass. He was very sad, but by midday his box was dry again. 5 of 52 E

E also played robot, house in a cardboard box and instead of a knight, a dragon blowing fire! He also did great at his soccer team, scoring 3 goals! 5 of 52 Joy

Joy wants to be a big girl and part of that has been her putting her plate/bowl in the sink just like her brothers. This has its pluses, one less thing for me to remember to do, but it also means more food on the floor.
