We got a little splash pad for Joy that J liked as well. Getting wet on a hot day is always wonderful. J has been climbing trees in the green belt, this one required a little help from Dadda.

E also loves playing in the water and must keep up with big brother in climbing trees.

Joy loves her new swimsuit and splash pad! She played a lot in it and sitting in the middle getting soaked. Not to be outdone by brothers she had Dadda put her in the tree!

J did two big bike rides. The first was to downtown Chandler, the second to church. He did great on both. Both boys did wheelbarrow running across the lawn near the City of Chandler  office buildings. J made it almost all the way across.

E also did very well on the two bike rides. He likes leading, which sometimes causes fights between the brothers.

Joy biked by herself all the way to church, over 1 mile one way! She loved being a big girl riding her bike the whole way.

J turned 9!!! He celebrated with a Dutch Bros drink, lunch at Joe’s BBQ, ice cream from Topo and finished with dinner at Joe’s Farm Grill. He loves Star Wars, Legos and hanging with friends.

E has become quite the climber. He can know touch the ceiling in spots of the fire place. It gives me minor hard attacks, but he loves it.

Joy made more friends at a neighborhood water Sunday funday. She tried to bring a water balloon home, but it broke when showing it to Dadda.

J loves building, whether with duplos, legos, pavers, paper or foam/cardboard. He quickly put together this Statue of Liberty model.

E loves to play with Joy. He will have tea parties, dress up, build duplos/legos and forts.

Joy named the watermelon, “lemon” and the cucumber “stick”. She loved eating “lemon” and with each bite said “bye friend”.

This week we had the kids each pick a dinner. J picked hot dogs/hamburgers.

E picked waffles. He loves waffles.

Joy picked pesto pasta. She loves her carbs!

Grand Prix!!!! J wanted to win so bad. He made it to the final four and barely lost to 3rd place. He had an amazing attitude about not getting a medal and is already planning his car for next year.

E had Joe make an incredible police car. He didn’t win a design award, but his Police car did speed into 3rd place for speed.

I forgot to get a picture with Joy’s car. It was a purple, very purple and she sped into 2nd place.

J tried mochi with a bean paste filling for our study of Japan.  He liked it for a few bites, but prefers ice cream mochi much more.

E did not like the mochi, but loved learning bits and pieces of Japanese. He would come and say random words or phrases and ask me what he just said? Sometimes I guessed correctly.

Joy was whatever about mochi. She is still only interested in school when it suits her whim.

 

J loved exploring at Veterans Oasis Park. He gathered sticks, inspected rocks, and played very close to the creek.

E explored and got into the creek, as he had on rain boots.

 

Joy loved exploring, almost lost her hat looking at a big fish in the lake. Thankfully, someone fished it out before it traveled far.

 

 

It was a quite week here as we took a partial spring break.  J was very happy to discover that mostly only the basics (piano, Bible, chores) were required.  He got quite the haul from the library. He was so excited to enter the stacks and pick out his own books, with a little help from Momma. He also had so much fun with his bandanna for pirate night at Awana’s, he made himself quite the costume from three bandannas.

E was also happy to be on a more relaxed schedule. We spent one whole day at the park with friends. E loved playing hard and didn’t even get burnt.

Joy also was into dressing up using bandanas. I also need to report we have found another form of potatoes that Joy likes, potato skins.
